Your egg was produced on David and Helens farm near Penrith in the Lake District. David grew up on the mixed family farm among Dairy cows, beef cattle and sheep. He and Helen have hens with one of the best views in Cumbria towards the Lake district hills. The whole family including their 4 young girls get involved with caring for the birds.

David and Helen are passionate about animal welfare so keep only Free Range chickens. Their deep regard for the environment has led them to plant over 40000 trees around their farm over the last 5 years amounting to some 25 acres of woodland. These are mainly native trees including Oak, Ash, Elm etc, and as well as improving habitat for insects, animals and plants it allows their hens to roam freely under a safe canopy of tree cover protecting them from predators and encouraging them to roam.

Some of these trees are now approaching 6 metres tall and provide a closed canopy for many types of wildlife to utilise and the open glades encourage woodland flowers, insects and butterflies.
